Hot off the easel is this pastel painting of a handsome chap...........a laughing kookaburra (known around the world for its crazy loud laughing call) in our golden ash tree. The laughing kookaburra is the world's heaviest kingfisher and though not the largest he is certainly heavily constructed as he does most of his hunting on solid ground and needs to be solid enough for the impacts when it dives beak first ....at top speed onto its prey. The things he eats are widely varied from rats, mice, lizards, snakes and our beautiful goldfish which lasted only two days once they were installed into our outdoor fountain.
