Lions are thought of by many people as an active and dynamic species. But the truth of their day-to-day existence can be found in the fact that lions spend around 15 – 20 hours per day doing exactly what this girl is doing………. sleeping. And when you consider the tremendous amount of energy and strength needed to pull down large prey it makes perfect sense for lions to rest when they can. This lady in South Africa was not even prepared to do more than crack open an eye when I paused quite close for some photos from my tiny little hire car.
