Textures, form, light and shade…. these are all things that inspire me artistically but even more important is my choice of subject. And for this I rely entirely upon inspiration. Koalas inspire me totally and fill me with joy. Climbing trees with them may not be advisable but it is something I do if it is safe since how else am I to feel anything of what a koala feels. To paint a koala, one first must understand a koala and there is no better place to do that than in its wild home.
