'Monolith - Cape buffalo bull' (2010)
Subject: African Cape buffalo bull
Dimensions (centimeters): 60 x 90
Medium: Charcoal engraving on board.
Description: The reputation of Cape Buffalo as being a dangerous animal is earned when men shoot and wound them. Reminding me of a zoo sign which once read "Beware this animal is dangerous - It defends itself when attacked!" My experience of the magnificent and assertive creatures is they require respect and if you ignore that fact they could remind you quite forcefully. There is no doubting the fact that bulls particularly take their role of protector of the herd very seriously indeed.
