'The power of wings - Brown falcon'
Pastel on Supertooth paper
64 x 51cm
Brown falcons are among my most favourite birds of prey..... generalist hunters rather than specialists like most of the falcon family. Feeding upon a wide variety of prey from small insects through to reptiles and rabbits they tend to be common where other falcons may be rare. They aren't flashy fliers but I admire them for their ability to adapt to changing circumstances. But truly I painted this guy because I just adore their big gentle eyes and love the soft blue trim around the eyes and beak. And ...flashy flier or not....they are members of the Falcon family....a house of avian royalty when all is said and done.
